Florence M. Doucette Obituary

I am a volunteer in the activity department at Wedgemere, and consider myself blessed to have known "Flossie," someone who held a very special place in my heart and will be sadly missed.

Not only was she a good friend, willing to help others whenever she could, she also was a talented, intelligent woman with a great sense of fashion style. And everyone who knew her also admired Flossie's great sense of humor, her love of life and readiness to have fun, which manifest itself with her grin and the twinkle of her pretty blue eyes. One way to see the twinkle and grin was to watch her play Bingo, one of her favorite games, one she was proficient at and very lucky at winning ( sometimes much to the chagrin of other not-so-lucky players!)

Sometimes we wish there was something more we could do to ease pain and suffering for those we care about when they're dying. Knowing how deep her faith in God was, I'd often go in to pray with her during those last days and weeks prior to her passing and like to think my being there, praying, holding her hand, stroking her forehead, brought some comfort and peace when her family couldn't be there.

Lastly, please remember how very proud she was of her beloved children and all their accomplishments, feelings she shared with residents and staff alike.
