Mark J. Mitchell Obituary

I had been wondering why Mark hadn't replied to my emails, but after going on facebook to message him there,
I saw this post. I'm so very sorry and sad to find out of his passing. We had been in touch on and off quite
frequently, and not very long before he passed. Mark was a great guy and exceptional artist who drew for Disney for many years. He would often come to my parents house to spend time talking

I had been wondering why Mark hadn't replied to my emails, but after going on facebook to message him there,
I saw this post. I'm so very sorry and sad to find out of his passing. We had been in touch on and off quite
frequently, and not very long before he passed. Mark was a great guy and exceptional artist who drew for Disney for many years. He would often come to my parents house to spend time talking about my dad's collections, drawing, and just being a wonderful friend. May he rest in peace.

I just heard the sad news. Mark was one of the most incredible people I've met. Met Mark in the 1980's and became friends immediately.
Mark will be sorely missed.
We talked and laughed for hours about life, horror movies, Disney .

We had planned to get together after the pandemic slowed. Regretfully, we did not have that opportunity.

I asked the producer of the show. She told me Mark had had a heart attack and could not attend. He had wanted to attend so badly but his doctor would not let him.

I never knew how ill he was. I will always regret that I wasn't more persistent about getting together in the summer. It would have been so great to see him again and maybe even to see his great collection he told me about.

I knew Mark from grade school at Robin Hood Elementary School and graduated with him from Stoneham High Class of 1975. Mark was the most friendly ,generous , upbeat, uplifting free-spirited soul you could ever meet. He recently sent autographed Disney prints to my grandchildren. We were so appreciative.

Rest in Peace my dear friend you will be greatly missed.

It was over 30 years ago now when I first remember visiting his home and seeing his vast collection of Disney memorabilia. He was a steady part of my life as I grew up and luckily my children also got to experience how caring and thoughtful he was. My last memory of him, was this past June when he happily told my wife that he was going to wreck his "Slim Fast Diet" enjoying deserts at my sons birthday. I'll miss his enthusiasm for all things great and small. I hope he is resting easy, and if I'm lucky I hope to see him again one day down the road.

I also remember fondly visiting him and his Mother and getting such a kick out of the way they spoke to each other. It was always a comedy that sounded like it should have been on television. Also, our yearly get togethers at a Christmas was always a highlight. Every year mid December we’d ask “So when is Mark coming over?” and we’d always make sure to be home that day. As we got older, Mark shared in all
of our most exciting moments, and helped us in our hardest. I remember being bullied in high school and Mark wanting to do whatever he could to help. He celebrated with us and shared in our lives with an excitement that was sincere and heartfelt. When he came to our baby shower over the summer, he couldn’t wait to show us what he had found for the babies room- a Mickey lamp that he had found and matched perfectly to our babies nursery. His thoughtfulness and genuine kindness I will never forget. He was the nicest man I’d ever known and I will miss him terribly.

My sincere condolences to the Mitchell family. Mark was a talented sweet man that I had the pleasure to know after he reached out to me when my son was ill. He invited us to view his Disney collection and we remained friends for years after. The world has lost a special person and beautiful soul

Mark and I met back in the 80's. He was a sales host at the Circle Gallery in Boston and we immediately became close friends due to our insane love of Disney. I loved our friendship and I can't think of another person who was so kind to everyone. Both of us though had a bit of a slanted sense of humor, which made me like him even more. Through the years we saw less and less of each other,

Mark and I met back in the 80's. He was a sales host at the Circle Gallery in Boston and we immediately became close friends due to our insane love of Disney. I loved our friendship and I can't think of another person who was so kind to everyone. Both of us though had a bit of a slanted sense of humor, which made me like him even more. Through the years we saw less and less of each other, but continued to keep in touch through numerous phone calls. A few days before he passed away, I had left him a phone message. I knew he was ill, but did not know exactly how bad he was. In the message I teased him that he'll do anything for attention. Another friend who told me Mark had passed, said Mark laughed and loved the message from me, but was not able to return the call. It's been a week now, I look at his photo and still cannot believe he is gone. What a wonderful person he was and I will always keep him in my heart. The world has lost an extremely talented person. Rest my friend.

To Marks Family,
I am so sorry for your loss. I know Mark thru my brother Mark. I would see Mark over the years at my nephews, nieces, grand nephews & grand nieces birthday parties. He had such a happy, humorous, thoughtful, kind spirit. A good example to us all. He will be missed. Wishing you all peace during this difficult time.
