Dear Ruth-- I am the classmate of Richard at Northeastern University who drove your wedding car from church to celebration--making a tough turn while talking too much on the Rte 128 ramp. Stayed in touch over the years with "Dick" and always enjoyed his company. Is his buddy-Paul Bartlett- still active?
still remember visiting years ago before or after a Red Sox game in the Fenway neighborhood! Please enjoy family and carry on! Hal McCarthy-Punta Gorda FL

Richard's passing brings back a flood of memories of good times spent together. He was my husband Bob's best friend for all these years since they went to school together. We all pray they are having a great reunion in heaven.
God Bless you Ruth and all your family.

My sympathy to the family. I had the honor of working with Richard at RH Stearn while I attended college. I can honestly say we was the kindest fair minded person I knew. He treated everyone with respect and motivated others. Now some 40 years later I can say that I learned a great deal from him. Rest In Peace Mr Sawin.

Fred my friend. I once was reminded that there is no real death! What seems so is but a transition. My faith tells me that this life of mortal breathing is but a suburb of life eternal, whose golden key we call death.
Nevertheless amigo, we offer our sympathies at the loss of your brother.

As a friend and classmate of Dick's, our relationship goes back a long way. He was always a straight-shooter and good person.

He shall be missed by many.

Richard, and his Dad before him, were the most ethical, principled owners of a repair facility and used car lot I ever met. I bought cars from him, I could send friends and family members to Sawin Motors knowing that everything was above board. Being the closest Inspection Station to our shop, I was in there frequently "back in the day" and always enjoyed our interactions. He knew how to do it right.

Our condolences to the family of Richard. He was a true gentleman and an honest businessman. We had many interactions with him at his auto repair shop in Wakefield.
