Tribute & Message From The Family

Joseph C. Loconzolo, a long-time Wakefield resident, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at the Melrose Wakefield Hospital on Monday, March 14, 2022; he was 90 years old. Joe was born in East Boston on October 18, 1931; he was the dear son of the late Joseph Loconzolo and Anna (Casselo) Loconzolo.

Joe was raised in Malden before his family moved to Greenwood in Wakefield.

Aside from his family, Joe's greatest devotion was to the military. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in the early 50's and served in the Korean War, where he was awarded the Korean service medal.

After serving in the Navy, Joe began working in the Carpenters Union, first working for Clarke Construction Company where he became a Foreman. Later working at Gonnella Construction for several years, doing what he loved.

Joe was a humble, dedicated family man who loved spending time with his family and friends, telling jokes and always loved helping everyone. He enjoyed preparing and cooking for family dinners. He loved boating, golfing, and fishing. He was also a member of the Wakefield Lodge of Elks Club where he loved helping to cook for numerous functions, playing cards and having a few cold ones with his friends.

Once retired, Joe escaped the cold winter months with his wife Josephine at their condo on Sunny Isles Beach in Florida. He enjoyed the warmth and taking in the views from his balcony.

He will be fondly remembered for his great personality, huge heart, kindness towards others and his ability to make almost anyone laugh. He will be missed by all who knew him.

He was the loving husband of Josephine C. Loguidice. The beloved father of Linda Dennis and husband Les of Londonderry, NH, Donna DePierro and husband Vincent of Tewksbury and Debbie Loconzolo of Franklin. Brother of the late Cecelia Magliozzi and George and William Loconzolo. Also survived by his 5 grandchildren, Melissa and Michelle Dennis, Vinny Jr., Danielle and Nicole DePierro.

Family and friends will gather for visiting hours Friday, March 25th at 10:00 a.m. -11:00 a.m. at Bear Hill Golf Club 2 North Street, Stoneham MA with Military Honors.

As a fellow Veteran and Joe's Veteran Service officer, I was honored to be able to guide him as my very first client. His humble yet dedicated patriotic spirit gave me a foundation on which to build my skills toward helping so many other Veterans.
Once I got to know Joe i could tell the love of family and his passion for the Navy and his time in service was noteworthy of a true patriot. Always in my prayers Sir, and know that your inspiration towards helping others will always lie fresh in my mind. Rest in Peace Warrior you deserve a special place in God's home.
