Carol Roberts Cooke, 82, of Salem, NH, formerly of Lynnfield, MA, passed away on Monday, November 20, 2017 at Salem Woods in New Hampshire.

An only child, Carol was born on July 21, 1935, and lived in Everett, MA until the age of six when she moved to Lynnfield, MA. She graduated from Wakefield High School in 1953, worked in business for several years, and graduated from Boston University in 1966. She then began a 29 year career teaching in the Melrose, MA School System. During these years she also completed a Master's Degree in English in 1981 at Salem State University.

Carol met her husband, Thomas William Cooke, while she was teaching in Melrose, and they spent their 43 years of marriage together enjoying their favorite past times: traveling, special celebrations with family, visits with friends, and playing golf.

Carol was predeceased by her husband, Tom, who died in 2016, and by her mother, Frances Roberts Worthen (1999), and her step-father Kenneth Worthen (2001).

She is survived by her sister-in-law, Betty Moran of Windham NH, and her brother-in-law Paul Cooke and his wife Annette of Salem NH. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews and by cherished cousins and friends.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of The Residence at Salem Woods and to the support team of Brookhaven Hospice for their kind, sensitive, and compassionate care given to Carol during her declining health.

Her Funeral Service will be held in the Centre Congregational Church, 5 Summer St., Lynnfield on Thursday, November 30 at 11am. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held prior to the service in the Centre Congregational Church Sanctuary beginning at 10am. Interment will be private.

Arrangements are in the care of the McDonald Funeral Home, Wakefield MA.

A good education for everyone was Carol's greatest wish. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to the Melrose High School Permanent Scholarship Fund, PO Box 760695, Melrose, MA 02176.
