George R. Smith, Jr. of Wakefield, passed away peacefully on August 25 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers after a courageous battle with heart disease.

Born in Winchester, MA on May 7, 1952 he was the son of the late George R. and Mary F. Smith.

George is survived by his wife of 43 years, Ruth Ann (Conway) Smith; his son Joseph R. and his wife Kristen of Tewksbury, MA; his daughter Emily J. of Salisbury, MA; and his son Neil C. of Wakefield. He was the Papa to his beloved grandchildren: Evan, Tyler, Cameron, Brayden, Penelope, and Fiona. He is also survived by his large extended family, his Avid Technology family, and his cherished lifetime friends, Peter and Jo-Ann Cameron of Merrimac, MA. He was predeceased by his brother Paul C. Smith.

His Funeral Service will be held in the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Thursday, Sept 1 at 11am. Interment, Forest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield. Visitation for relatives and friends at the Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4-7pm.
