Harriet Alta Pierce Winsor, 91, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2019 at the Sunrise Senior Living Center in Lynnfield, Massachusetts due to complications of dementia. She was the daughter of the late Louise Rush Pierce and Herbert Robbe Pierce.

Harriet was born on March 12, 1928, in Montpelier, Vermont. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Chicago in 1949 before marrying her husband, the late Donald Lee Winsor, in 1951. They eventually settled in Wakefield, Massachusetts where they raised 5 children. Harriet was a resident of Wakefield for 60 years.

Loving mother of Jane Winsor and her husband Robert Nau of Chapel Hill, NC, Martha Winsor and her husband Christopher Fox of Newport, OR, Susan Kennedy and her husband Joseph of Piercefield, NY, Sarah Winsor and her husband N. Keith Duncan of Bristol, RI, and Daniel Winsor and his wife Cristina of Wakefield, MA. Devoted grandmother of Rebecca Carpenter (Jeb) and Amy Nau, Benjamin and Emily Fox, Megan Alger (Mitch), Erin Kennedy (Kevin Platt), Leah and Georgia Duncan, and Alejandro and Diego Winsor. Great-grandmother of Nora Alger. Harriet is also survived by her 5 siblings and many nieces and nephews, who she loved to host in her Wakefield home.

Harriet was a lifelong believer in helping others. She dedicated many hours volunteering with local organizations such as FISH, Wakefield InterFaith Food Pantry, Hospice Care Inc, Adult Literacy Tutoring, and the Massachusetts Association for Retarded Citizens. After her husband passed away in 1981, Harriet returned to college and earned a degree which launched her late life career as a social worker with Mystic Valley Elder Services. Harriet was a big believer in giving people second chances and lending a compassionate and respectful helping hand. There are many in the Wakefield area whose lives she touched.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at the Reminiscence Program at Sunrise of Lynnfield and AllCare Hospice for the thoughtful care that Harriet received in the last years of her life.
