Marilyn J. Maffa, age 88, of Wakefield, died on Saturday November 13 at Brightview Wakefield.

She was born in Boston on July 15, 1933 and was the daughter of the late Stephen and Mary Ann (Connolly) Dowd.

Marilyn was raised in Charlestown and was a graduate of Cheverus High School in Malden class of 1951. She was a resident of Wakefield since 1970 and was a member of St. Joseph Church. Marilyn cherished family gatherings, celebrating together, and taking day trips throughout the region.

She was beloved wife of the late Candeloro J. "Rocco" Maffa. She was the loving mother of Kathleen Maffa Krailo and her husband Robert of Reading, Marianne Maffa of Dover, N.H., and Jeanne Marie Maffa of Wakefield. She was the sister of the late John and Edward Dowd. Marilyn is also survived by her 5 grandchildren Olivia, Owen, Jenna, Madison, and Michael.

Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Wednesday, November 17 from 3-6 p.m. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield on Thursday November 18 at 10 a.m. Interment, Forest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield.
