Phillip Malcolm Davis of Winthrop, Mass., age 82, departed this life after a brief illness (and devastating Patriots playoff loss), surrounded by his loving family. Born on a small farm in Stoneham, Massachusetts, Phil enjoyed summers in Gilmanton, New Hampshire and Stoneham High School athletics before graduating from Boston College and Suffolk University Law School.

After joining a small Boston law firm specializing in products liability and medical malpractice, Phil was instrumental in growing the practice exponentially, and he eventually rose to managing partner while earning a reputation as a masterful litigator and a top trial attorney nationwide. In later years, his success and legal prowess would continue in a variety of private law practices, culminating in a partnership with his son-in-law, David.

Phil's greatest happiness in life was spending time with his family either watching Boston sports, firing up the grill at weekend cookouts, or during memorable vacations spanning the globe. Phil will always be remembered for his quick wit, very generous nature, and captivating stories.

As a true adventurer, Phil was just as comfortable skiing fresh powder in the Rockies, scuba diving on a shipwreck in the Caribbean, riding a camel around the Great Pyramids of Egypt, or exploring caves in Turkey. After separating from the love of his life, Mary, the two remained the best of friends until his passing.

Phil also leaves behind son James and wife Virginia, of Taos, New Mexico, daughter Suzanne White and husband David, of North Andover, sons Michael and Paul of Winthrop; grandchildren Kyle, Tyler, Arielle, and Cameron White, and Bianca, Cassidy, Ryleigh, and Michael Davis Jr.; and several great-grandchildren.

A private service will precede interment at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Stoneham. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a cause of your choosing.
