Born in Franklin, NH, December 7, 1940, daughter of the late Walter W. and Margaret (Soley) Arnold and sister of Margaret Deshaies and her husband Roger of Chelmsford.

Shirley was a lifelong resident of Stoneham and graduate of Stoneham High School Class of 1958. She will be remembered for her love and passion for figure skating. In her youth she was a competitive figure skater with the Commonwealth Figure Skating Club in Lynn. Her passion for the sport led to a 25 year career. She was a long time member, coach, and show choreographer with the North Shore Figure Skating Club and ran a Learn-to-Skate program at the MDC Flynn Rink in Medford. Upon retiring from skating, she held several positions as a Medical Secretary in the Winchester Hospital system and most recently as a Traffic Director for the Town of Stoneham. She liked to keep busy and enjoyed gardening, biking, candlepin bowling and family trips to Lake Winnipesaukee.
Shirley was the beloved wife of Robert J. Drinkwater to whom she was married 29 years. Her love of music and dancing led them to meet at the Wonderland Ballroom. Together they enjoyed traveling, attending music & jazz festivals, car shows and long adventurous car rides.
